1889 Local Authority Records Records of Glamorgan County Council (established in 1889) and other local authorities such as urban and rural district councils (from 1894) can tell us about what was happening in the community. The councils had wide-ranging responsibilities for local services, including health, rates, planning of the environment, roads and footpaths, housing, education, public assistance and civil defence.
