1880s Trade Directories

Both the Record Office and the Library Service hold copies of trade directories such as Kelly’s Directory of South Wales and Monmouthshire. These provide a wealth of information about the county.  As well as providing lists of people with trades they describe each town and the main villages in detail, with information about facilities at the time, making them particularly useful for people carrying out research into their community.
